Hi Katie

I had to write a similar piece of work but more words I think. Do you want me to send you a copy of mine to read? x

I wrote that I wanted to do access because I hadn't studied for a long time, and was looking forward to refreshing my knowledge of the subjects involved - mine were biology, chemistry, psychology and academic skills. I think you have to be honest and say that the main reason you are doing it is so you can apply to uni, but that this gives you the drive to attend, study and to successfully complete it. You could also add in if you are doing anything else to support your application, voluntary work or something that has inspired you (sm.net for example!!)

Something like that? Good Luck! x

I wrote that it was a stepping stone to studying midwifery. (or words to that effect).

You could also write about:

What you want to get out of this course.
What your aspirations are i.e. to become a midwife because....
Why you feel you need to gain the skills you will at college
What you have heard about the college locally (helps to visit their website and see if they have any awards you can mention...they like that!!)
Why you chose them not another college
A little history about yourself....I told them that I needed to do this now at my time of life because I had put everything on hold for everyone else but now I was able to concentrate 100% on achieving my goal...blah blah etc etc...lol

70 Words is not a huge amount....they just want to see you can actually put your thoughts into writing that makes sense.....

Good luck! You will love it! x.

hello. this is what i have come up with although it is plenty more than 70 words so need to shorten it abit i think?
any comments/advice would be fab! thanks!

************************************************** ****

I am applying to study the Access to Nursing, Health and Science course as I have a keen interest in the growth and development of the human body and also the reproductive system.

Upon completing the course I would like to go on and apply to study a degree in Midwifery.

Midwifery is very interesting to me as I feel that every woman deserves the best care throughout all pregnancy stages.

I feel I have the qualities needed to study Midwifery as I am an understanding, patient and caring individual who has the ability to listen to people without prejudice and allow them to form their own opinion and be supportive of their decisions.

Therfor I feel that the Access Course will help me to gain experience in learning and i will gain alot of confidence and knowledge of the human body which will then help me to go forward and apply to Hull University and earn a degree in Midwifery.

************************************************** ****

thanks for everyones help? any suggestion on this draft i would reeeeeeeelly appretiate. thank-you xx
