I'm an Auntie!!!!!!!!

I've been incredibly lucky, as my sister asked me to be her birthing partner. On wednesday night she gave birth to a gorgeous little girl weighing 6.13oz! I was sooooooooooo stressed, as seeing my sister in all that pain made me feel helpless!!! She was amazingly strong and determined not to have an epidural. She only had gas and air, and a shot of Meptid. She faught her way through the pain and did really, really well. I'm still in ore of seeing my younger sister in labour and finally give birth in such a brave way.She was so strong, and was guided by a student midwife, who was fantastic! It was only her 4th catch, and you would never of guessed! Midwives do an incredible job and seeing with my own eyes for the first time how a baby comes into the world is totally spectacular!!!!!!!!!! I would like to thank my sister for letting me be a part of the most precious, special, and emotional time of her life. I will keep the experience with me forvever, and be eternally grateful. I'm really looking forward to starting in September, and i will always have the upper most respect for what a Midwife's role entails!!!!! Now i need a very large glass of wine to chill out a little!!!!lol xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Congratulations!! Bet your loving Auntie mode! My niece was born almost three years ago and I get to see her and look after her about twcie a week, which I love! It's been amazing watching her grow up. I was there when she was born (and so I cried, of course!) and my mum cut the umbilical cord. I wasn't planning on becoming a midwife then but it has always been something I've wanted to do along with my millions of other career plans!! I agreee, it's hard to see your sister in so much pain but, at the end of the day, women have been giving birth since forever so it's only natural!! :-)Posted 16-Jun-2008 at 18:43 by Felicity
