One step forward....twenty back

So everytime I feel like I'm getting somewhere Im pulled back rather quickly into reality and slapped in the face.
I spoke to occy health last week to check that they don't do a men C vaccine, I also asked when to expect an appointment as I'm on holiday from the 7th-14th. "Oh no that'll be fine, it won't happen before then" WHAT?! So I've come to the conclusion to just leave it there and wait it out.
My CRB on the other hand is getting ridiculous. I sent it off in june, rang several times to be told they still hadn't recieved it. So I rang uni a few times who told me "oh don't worry we send them in batches, your's has been sent now" Well someones been telling porkie pies as what should come through my letter box last week? My sodding CRB form, with a new one attached. I opened it and saw a tear mark through my signature. So I've had to fill another one in because the paper was ripped and couldn't possibly be used. Why are they telling me this NOW? It was sent in june, so why are you sending it back in august? Whenever I ask someone what happens if it doesn't come back before placement, they don't answer me!
I am in dire need of my holiday, Im slowly going potty. I just don't see why most of the unis in the country can manage to sort this all out and yet mine can't. It's just more comforting knowing everything's done!

This whole CRB and vaccination thing happened to my cohort last year. The uni made a boo-boo and didn't send off someone's CRB in time. They also decided at the last minute (as in the day before we began placement), to tell some of us that they had no record of our rubella status and that they wouldn't let us go into placement without it.
So, I had to wait a week to start, as I had to have a blood test and wait for the results. The girl with the CRB problems made a big complaint and the check was rushed through and she was only held back by a week too.
Unfortunately, they may tell you you're not allowed to start without a CRB, hun.
BUT if it's the uni's fault, then you shouldn't have to make up any hours missed if you're short at the end of the year. BUT that is down to the discretion of the uni, and how much time you have missed. - If you miss a lot, you will still need to make the time up so you get your clinical experience. Most uni's timetable in elective learning weeks though, so you can catch up on any missed days etc.

I hope so, I just know that my form is sitting on someones desk not sent off yet! I feel like sending one off to the crb myself, it'll probably be done sooner!

Well I wasn't amused at all! It came after a horrendous few weeks and going into placement was the only thing I was looking forward to.

Don't stress it hun, Cardiff didn't even send us the forms (CRB and health) until last week, they said it can take 3 weeks so they must be back by 1st Sept (we start 22nd!). Do your part and let the uni worry about the rest.Posted 28-Aug-2008 at 23:06 by RainbowGoddess
