Hawaiian Birthday Luau
Im VERY excited
I love birthdays, parties, celebrations - good food, good company and sunshine - perfect, and even better that its my birthday that is coming up
This year I have chosen to celebrate by having a hawaiian luau - lots of silk lei's, garlands, flowers in our hair (nowt new for me then), lanterns - you name it, this place with be transformed to an Aloha paradise
We intend to hold the luau on the beach in early evening - Robs sorting the authentic sounds of hawaii, Im trying to locate some guava nectar for my Guava Chiffon birthday cake *thanks to coffeebean looks like that ones sorted.. three cheers for cb xx* and am rather unashamedly dribbling as I scroll through hawaiian recipes for ideas the the 'intimate feast' that will be held at home.
So far all the bed and floor space in the house is taken and it looks set to be a great luau.
My local friends (and the admins who arent all that local but are of course my dear friends) are excitedly choosing outfits, talking of which Rob thought it would be amusing to get me a coconut bra, although like many men, he guessed the size of the coconuts so now smwife or karrierbag definatley have a coconut bra as if I wore that out Id be arrested for indecent coconut wearing. All I can say is you can squeeze a grapefruit in an egg cup can you? hahah. Its a pretty dress and a lei for me, thanks Rob. We are really looking forward to letting our hair down and 'hanging loose' *thats what it says on the luau website* although not quite as loose as R seems to have intended.
Has anyone hosted a luau before? If so do let me know as I want to get it right, Ive been doing my homework and we'll be having huli huli chicken, kalua pork served with banana leaves and lots of other yummy authentic treats - I wont spoil the surprise for the guests!
Needless to say - its been quite a year since my last birthday and Im really looking forward to the great company, the beautiful flowers and music and bringing our friends and the relaxed spirit of hawaii into our home.
