Thoughts, articles and occassionally explainations...
Babs, Queenie and the hamster
Babs wont go out in the rain. Ever. If its windy she takes a brolly. Honestly. She is utterly random.
Babs kinda mispronounces words in the cutest way. Shes not daft but she is a bit ditzy. Babs likes detail. She was telling Rob and I about a trip to the hospital.... 'Well I had to go and have this breathing thing done with a wotsit that you hold and go *makes puffing noises and looks like she is squeezing something imaginary in her hand, maybe a hamster, who knows* at the hospital, I was told in a letter to have a light lunch so I had cheese and crackers about 11'. Great. This is everyday Babs fodder.
She once got the words neurotic and erotic mixed up, we wont go there.
Today she asked me to help her find 'emmaguiser' batteries....
She is very sweet, everything is incredibly endearing. She laughs alot and has one of those proper laughs that are infectious, her eyes water when she laughs and she wipes the tears away carefully so as not to smudge her very well applied makeup. Babs never looks a mess. Babs likes cream and gold. Her house could easily be owned by a shy albino that likes to be camoflauged. She could give Elton John a run for his money on kitsch camp trinkets and her phone in particular. Its a mass of swarkovski crystal and gold. A magpie would be in heaven.
In my mobile I have 'Babs phone' and 'Babs text'. Babs has two phones one that is so old and looks like a housebrick that she can text on, after 18 years of trying mind you, its so old it doesnt work anymore, you cant phone her. So she has another phone that you phone her on. Calls with Babs go like this..... rustle rustle crunch as she answers it in her bag and rubs it up the side of a Frys mint cream with distant cries of 'Oh gawd where is it? Lars wheres me phone?' She has tried to answer her glasses before. Then she says 'Hello? I say 'Hi mum its me'. She shouts a greeting in a Don Jollyesque way cos she thinks you have to with a mobile. I say 'You ok? she says 'Im washing the dishcloths and Ive got ironing to do if it stays fine out, the birds have been in again, Grace is wearing me out, she had me up twice in the night, dads not very happy about that, Lee popped in says youre out Saturday, that Dee is a funny old thing' it continues like this with random word association cos Im sure thats what it is they arent formed sentances as far as I can work out. Cheese and crackers will be in there somewhere..... she ends the call 'love you'. Its v sweet.
I love my Babs.......... she was telling me about this lady she knew once called Queenie who 'was good looking in her day but she had these' *Babs looks at me square on and sticks her teeth out as far as she can get them* Babs cracks herself up and cracks me up. We both laugh til we cry as I start sticking my teeth out back at her. Who could ask for more?.....
