what a day

I had to worry about today working at antenatal clinic (it was meant to be quiet with only 5 bookers) no way would that take till 1pm.
Well it started off really well off to a flying start until lady b came out i heard the lady outside my rm door speaking to her hubby, she felt quezzy and alittle faint next thing she was on the floor in a heap, went out to support her and her partner until she came round. Once she came round she started to be violently sick, the midwife who wasworking tday was with me also.
I got a chair and a cup o water but she never wanted anything so the midwife phoned for the dr.
As she was very hot and clamy. Lady b had said that she was suffering badly wi sickness but had not fainted for a while. By then the dr came and we got the poor lady into a rm again she was sick and fainted yet again. To cut a long story short the lady got transferred to the gyne ward and is on a drip, clinic over ran and we never left till well after 1 pm.
morale of the story is I LOVE IT so different everytime you do a clinic you never now what is going to happen not like my ward which is the same thing day in day out.Do you want to know something today i saw loads of little babies and i was waiting to go over all gooey but i never i just spent time with the mothers that just seals it for me that i want to be a midwife. (thanks for reading all the way to the end)xx

Wow sounds like you coped really well and are cut out to be a fantastic midwife!
I've noticed lately that whenever there's a new baby in the community, while everyone else is cooing over the baby, the first thing I do is ask the mum how she is and if she's coping well, I still get gooey over the baby though.Posted 01-Jun-2008 at 20:58 by RainbowGoddess
