Rain, rain go away!

Why does the weather have to ruin my plans? Today it is raining, typical - it was glorious Monday and Tuesday and today is my only day off this week as I am doing all the overtime I can this summer in an effort to decrease our debts before September. I had planned to take the children to the beach after school as I feel I am wasting the opportunity to spend quality time with them before I start university life and also not making use of the facilities that are literally at my front door, we have this beautiful beach, just 10 minutes walk away and we hardly use it; I remember being so excited about moving so close to the beach, vowing to do, as my mother did with us and take the children to the beach after school whenever it was a nice day. However, since the summer holidays before last, when I took a walk to the beach at least once a week, I've been there about 5 times in total, not good.
It wouldn't be so bad but the weather did the same thing to me last week! Oh well, next week I have more after school time off work so maybe we'll get luckier.
On a more positive note, it turns out that DH had not been paid any of his commission for three months. This may not seem good but we have been seriously struggling to make ends meet recently, making me doubt whether it was possible for me to avoid giving up on uni and getting a full time job. DH is a trainer and he gets commision for each training session he does, as his clients are estate agents, with the housing market slow down, his training had slowed down so we knew his wages would drop, which is why he didn't notice that he hadn't been paid any commission at all, it is only because he had a fairly good month this month and his pay was no better that he eventually noticed he'd only had his basic wages for the last three months. So, while things were not great, it shouldn't have been as bad as it has been and now he's owed a nice nice chunk of money, which he should get soon.
So we can afford a few days camping somewhere this summer.
Even better, while I know it won't be easy, we can afford for me to go to uni

| | Rubbish rain here too Great news about hubby's commission, OK, not great that they haven't paid it but at least he'll get some extra pennies coming his way and a few days break will be fab It sounds like everyone is worried about finances and managing college/uni - but I guess we'll all get there somehow! xx |

| | I am very jealous that you have a beautiful beach 10 mins away! And yes, what is happening to Summer? (Mind you it was like this last year - all that flooding). I have had to wear my wellies to school all week. Good news about the financial situation. It will all be OK. The camping sounds fab. It is on my list of things to do to buy a tent. Can you plug in straighteners LOL. |
