placement hours sorted

Posted 13-Jun-2008 at 18:38 by stacetheace
i phoned up my local hospital today to ask a midwife what the placement hours are like at the hospital because (hopefully thats where i will get my placement )i really couldnt or wouldnt be able to do a shift starting or finishing at 7am my hubby leaves for work at 6! as it turns out they normally start at 8am. on placement you have to do 37.5 hours and depending on your mentors shift its on ,a long day is 8 am-8.30pm, nights is 8pm-8.00am and a short shift its 8am-2.30pm and community is 8.30-4.30!!!!! which is fantastic because hubby is prepared to take kids to a childminder at 7am. depending what sites hes on( hes an electrician) he will ask them if he can start an hour late. fingers crossed. phew! i know its a way off but i dont want to feel as if this is happening only for it to not to because i cant do the hours. i always feel if its meant to be,things will go your way and it looks like it is x x x

You will find a way and you seem very organised and practical unlike me! I would never have thought about phoning the hospital to find out about shifts, Doh! And anyway if all else fails, lock the kids in the shed with a bit of bread and plenty of water, and make sure anything sharp is removed and BINGO! Works for me lol!

Haha @ locking the kids in the shed, Dodo! Now there's an idea..

How you guys cope with the placements I do not know. Seems most universities do these instead of combined weeks of theory/clinical? I could be wrong.

Anyway, well done on phoning the hospital to find out about the shifts, Stace - very proactive!! It seems that it will all fall into place xx
