They are both really good ones to have, once you start uni you can get any others you want from the library there.

The Denis Walsh book Evidence for NORMAL labour and birth is my favourite at the moment. Always carry it when on delivery suite!

Default Books

Hello!

I'm planning to apply for a place on a midwifery degree for next year and I was wondering whether anyone could recommend any books that would make for good/useful reading in the meantime.

I want to do as much research as i can prior to any interview that i may be lucky enough to have, and any advice would be much appreciated (i have already subscribed to the practising midwife journal).

many thanks

Becca x

I liked birth story type books whilst thinking about applying - just to get a taste of what birth is like, what helps, goes wrong etc. Try 'Babycatcher' by Peggy Vincent, 'Spiritual Midwifery' by Ina May Gaskin, 'Call the Midwife' and 'A Midwives Tale' - can't remember who they're by! Also I really enjoyed 'Birth - a history' by Tina Cassidy. The link caz has given you gives some great pointers for text books. Enjoy!
