I always used Gibbs - I know it's simplistic but it fits every situation, and can be either shortened if wordcount is an issue, or lengthened (if wordcount is an issue!!)

I did use one by Boud (I think) for a reflective presentation where we were advised to show that a reflective cycle had been used. The basic framework is

What?
So What?
Now What?

Which is kinda to the point I think.

We use Gibbs, we have no choice, does everyone have to do 3 pieces of reflection every year like we do? Ours have to go in our portfolio as evidence.

I use Gibbs too, its easy for my little brain to make sense of. We have to submit 4 reflections, one from each placement usually......

We were only allowed to use Gibbs for the first year - apparently it is 'not academic enough' for level 2 and 3!

Load of old tosh really - reflection is about;
What happened?
What did I do?
What should I have done?
What will I do next time?
Talk it over with someone at Uni or in placement and Bobs your uncle!

We've been told that Gibbs isn't really enough for our third year and to use something like Benner's Stages of Clinical Excellence - Novice to Expert....
We have seven reflective pieces to do - one for each of the sections in our practice document - 2 A/N, 2 P/N, 2 labour and 1 - our choice!!
