Default start community placement tomorrow...

I start my first community placement tomorrow and dont know if im nervous or not really...i just keep thinking it cane be worse than delivery suite was (not in a bad sense, i just mean it shouldnt be as stressfull and hectic if you get me).

I think the thing im most worried about is that i have a new mentor and hope we get on. I have been told by my firend my mentor is nice so that has put me at ease a wee bit, will see how it goes anyway!

Good luck with your community placement Tiffany, I loved mine and would go back any day. I had a lovely mentor, and I think that makes all the difference.

Look forward to hearing all about it.

Hope it all goes really well for you! At least you know that your mentor is nice and most people on here seem to love community. I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck and hope you don't feel too nervous.

I went on community after acute site, and first of all thought it was quite easy going. But after a couple of days and being given more responsibility to do clinic, Pn visits etc, i realised how much a cmw really does. Its where my heart lies!
I loved it there, and just want to wish you loads of luck
enjoy it!

Good luck Tiff!

I loved community, it's where it all started for me, and what I want to do.

Some love it, some hate it. Hope your mentor is good, it makes a real difference.

Keep us posted!

Hi Tiffany

I just had my first day on community is my first ever placement but my mentor was really nice and i met some lovely women and their babies.... but it was not very hands on as all the postnatal visits were about 2weeks in so they were being discharged!! but i know tomorrow will be different as we have an antenatal clinic so should get my hands on some abdomens soon!!

i hope your day went well and has alleviated any nerves!!

Hi all, well done my first day and it was okay. My mentor is nice but it was a bit boring, I didn't really do anthing! I will reserve my judgement until I have been a few more times. Ill keep ya posted........it was nice to do 8hrs tho instead of 12.5 like on delivery suite!

I love community, I'm really comfortable there. I'll be shocked when I start my 14.5 hour del suite shifts next week. I won't see my kids for 2 whole days
I think its harder going to the slower community placement when coming from a busy del suite, a lot of people find it boring.
