How bizarre we are told from the 1st year that we should start saving to go abroad as a potential "one off" experience as long as all EU directives and assignments etc.. done in time then its no prob, they've given us contacts that they know aswell in different trusts. we get 5 weeks elective though its a little unfair if you go to your own trust you have to do 5 weeks full-time whereas if you go to another country then you only have to do a few shifts and get whatever time you want off. Rotunda is where our last years students went x

Get yourself over there, I bet you'll have no probs moving over afterwards, they have quite a high staff turnover, maybe some can't get to grips with the fact that most women have epidurals etc.. but saying that the section rate isn't much higher than ours mmmm

I did my elective with Independent Midwives, was fab. I arranged it just by finding some of the internet, through IMA association, and emailing them and asking! I stayed in one of their houses for the time i was there as there weren't any local to me (i've found a gap in the market!). It was just to observe as obviously they have no insurance for themselves-let alone me!

that is so unfair, what right have they to say that, it should be encouraged, I know I won't be able to have hands on over there but its just the experience of seeing how its all done isn't it? I bet if you contacted NMC they would say differently x

Hmm.. Think this is probably VERY unlikely.. BUT does anybody have a contact email for Rotunda hospital?! Theres not one on there webpage, I've tried emailing the university they are connected to but had no reply.. I have there address so could use snail mail but emailing them would be soooo much quicker!
