Talking First week in community placement...

and am LOVING it!!!! This is my first placement which i started on Tuesday.

And yesterday my second day out i had my first witness! Am on such a high still! Hoped to see a home birth at some point but can't believe it was this soon into my placement! It was amazing!

Today i've done bp's and palp's and actually finished at a 'normal' time! Am totally shattered mind you lol! Including the induction day on Monday have already done 37 hrs this week, it's been a long time since i done those sort of hours! But it's worth every minute!

Cami xx

that all sounds great Camilan, glad you had a good time. You are really lucky to have had a home birth as your first witness, many go out on community and don't even get a whiff of a call out. Am sure it is one you will never forget.
Congratulations

Gosh what fantastic experience, I'm nearly finished my four year course and the only home birth I have seen was my friends-how poor is that??
It excellent that you have had such a great experience so soon, glad you loving it xx

Ahhhh you must know a good friend of mine, she's in year 2! How does it feel being back in uni at the mo? It's a whole different world isn't it. I didn't realise quite how different it would be!

heavy going!!
modules are
evidence based practice - it's all very foreign at the mo
developing midwifery practice - copeable!
pathaphysiology and pharmacology - it's all VERY foreign at the mo, and includes maths which is a real blind spot for me!
on the other hand though, it is good to be back for 5 weeks of normal getting up and going home times, no long days and no night shifts! And of course, great to see all the girls
