My 5th delivery was a home birth. We don't do On Call at my placement hospital, so we can get called out to a homebirth at anytime if we're on a labour ward shift.

My delivery was very exciting though. running through the hospital corridors carrying baby scales (as there were none in the pool car). Definately gets the adrenaline pumping.

Well didn't get called out but.............................got to see a home water birth!!!!

It was amazing!!!!!!!! I don't think i will ever forget the sight of babys head just sitting there waiting for the rest of the body to be born, especially when the eyes opened and baby had a good look around! And when baby was born the way it was just laying in the water, no panic, just nice and calm! WOW!!!!! I am on such a high! Mum was fantastic, she knew what she wanted from the birth and she was in charge. A really lovely couple and a really lovely birth!

And she was a primip - how wonderful is that? I took the call on DS this morning and I have been itching to spread the news all day, but have been very good and waited for her to contact everyone.

And I can't wait to go and visit her.....Wooooo Hoooooo!
I won't mention the name they have given the baby for reasons of confidentiality, but how beautiful.

That woman is just amazing - I wish I was like her at her age!

Had to be really careful about what i could put in the post as mum is a third yr student midwife from KS's cohort (another member of their cohort was there to witness the birth) and didn't want to ruin the surprise! And also not sure what details i can and can't say!!!

She was amazing tho, she had a long haul but she came through it really well.

that's great Camilan, you will not forget your first! Waterbirths Rock!!

My first waterbirth was amazing, it was back in November, and I am really good friends with the mum now and keep in touch with her and meet up occasionally and it's lovely to see the baby growing up too. It's things like that that make me realise how special this job is.
