Default Every day is different

I am part way through my second week on delivery suite, and I am loving it, every shift is completely different than the last, and I love the diversity of the women and partners that I have had the privilage to support during such a special time.

I cared for a lovely couple this afternoon, and they had a lovely normal delivery, their baby son needed a little bit of extra stimulation to encourage him to get going, but otherwise he was fine.

I felt I was really able to bond with this couple, I felt like had played a part in their birth even though I was only watching and encouraging Mum, and this is something I have never felt before, it was a great feeling, but hard to put into words really.

I miss delivery suite, at the time i wasnt sure about it but now im out in community i do miss te diversity(sp?) of delivery suite. Also, iv found on D/S i felt more confident because i was left on my own a lot more, whereas in community im with my mentor constantly.

I know what you mean Tiffany,

I loved community, but I have to say, I am enjoying my delivery suite placement even more.

It's truly wonderful. I know that even women who have been 'difficult' to bond with, have come back the following year and said, 'you were wonderful last time, would you like to deliver this one?'. That's when you know you are doing the right thing.

You see ... that is the reason i want to be a midwife...

Thanks for posting that Missy, I had been having doubts about whether it was the right thing for me and ubby (financial worries) but just reading your post made me realise that three years of hardship will be worth it!

Thank you so much for sharing!
