Default Elective Placement.. Please Help

Right, I have to go on a 4 week elective placement in Jan 09..
I had arranged to go to Scotland but my mum is now telling me she doesn't want me to go there as she doesn't want me driving in Scottish weather at that time of the year (grrr)

Now I have NO idea where I want to go.. I would either like a very low risk unit.. or one with 5000+ deliveries a year.. To get a contrast to the unit I am at now..

But I have no idea where to start, where would be good.. etc..

I am open to any ideas in England and Wales.. And the possibilty of a room to rent anywhere along side it would be fab?!!? (Cheeky I know but i'm getting desperate!)

Help!?

hmmm not sure what the delivery rate is at Worthing will look into it but a nice break at the seaside may be an idea. Much nicer weather than scotland too!

The weather in Scotland isn't too bad in January

My local Maternity unit delivers 5500+ babies a year (Wishaw General), just a thought if Scotland isn't a definite no-no.

Scotland isn't the Antarctic. Our climate differs from England very little. It's only in the Highlands that might be a bit worse and snowy - and hardly anyone lives there!

So I don't understand why it's a definate no-no according to your mum... Shame

That is such a shame for you about Scotland, could you not defy your Mum and go anyway?

If you fancy Wales, I have a spare room (it is very small though) and the local hospital (10 minute walk away) has a midwifery led unit so I guess that is all low risk.
