Default First Day...

It was my 1st day and I was on Labour ward, got my 1st witness. It was a c-section for breech, got to see the whole thing from a close distance. It was fascinating but when they started pulling the stomach my eyes nearly popped out for a second, I didn't expect that lol.
I also delivered a fake doll about 5 times, but it was really good for learning x

Now was the doll a boy or a girl. Sorry could not resist asking.

I do know what you mean, i was never expecting them to start pulling as much as they do. It looks evil.
Good luck and i hope you get to see loads more. It will continue to make your eyes pop out i promise you!

It seems brutal doesnt it? I remember thinking is all that force neccessary ?? then I realised it just looks worse than it is cos we arent used to seeing it, plus all the pulling means less clean cuts which take longer to heal. The day I 'took my first baby' in theatre was scary, at that point Id delivered 20+ babies and witnessed many more that had gone to section/instrumental etc but when it was my turn to step up and take the baby I was So0o0o0o0o nervous!

Glad you enjoyed your first day, Genevieve!

When I saw the first Iasked why they pull the sides like that and was told it heals better than cutting further, looks barbaric though doesn't it?

OMG, I took the baby after a section on my last day of placement (after witnessing many, alas). I had to scrub up and everything! very scary!

It was lovely though. I got a wonderful hug from Mum, Dad and Grandma after wards! and felt so choked up.
