Postnatal Depression in Young Parents: 08-Jul-2009 09:00 - 17:00

The NCT are running a workshop at Leicester Community Centre, focusing on PND in young parents.

Cost: £82 including lunch. Discounts available for students.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have had an opportunity to:

• list the symptoms exhibited by those experiencing baby blues, postnatal depression or puerperal psychosis and suggest suitable non-medical treatment strategies
• identify reasons why younger parents are expecially vulnerable to postnatal depresssion
• examine the particularsupport needs of younger parents and the barriers they may experience in accessing available services
• understand the effect of post-traumatic stress syndrome in the context of birth, and suggest debriefing strategies
