I live in China and I read this story in a local magazine yesterday:

A women had given birth in a hospital in Shenzhen, China. The midwives there get a set rate for their job but when they carry out a delivery the parents are expected to give a tip. However, the father in this case didn't have much cash on him and apparently didn't tip high enough so as punishment the midwife stitched up the woman's anus while claiming to be just tidying everything up down there!
The woman was unsure why she was in so much agony after leaving the hospital, and a trip to the doctors the next day found the cause!!!
The midwife is now under investigation.

I couldn't believe it when I read the story! Just horrific, the poor woman!
