Hi all, my dad is self employed and we had such a stressful time trying to get all the docs he needed from the tax people and getting his accountant to try and find stuff too when he was being very unhelpful lol!

But anyway, finally ready to send them off now, better late than never I guess. I know I wont have the money before I start (27th sept) but my parents luckily can lend me a bit until i get it.

So I was wondering how long it takes to recieve your documents back after sending them off? I am about to go and post them, and I move into uni on 25th so really need my passport and birth certificate back by then!!!! Thats 19 days... dya reckon theyll be back by then?

Thanks xx

Hi Guys,

Im wondering... At the time of making my application to UCAS I will be living with my mum, lil bro and sis who is at uni now. BUT currently HM Revenue say that because my partner pays for my upkeeping (and my mum doesnt) then we are entitled to claim as a couple even though were not living together.

So I get WTC's, CTC's, but not on any other benefits. My partner is self employed, and only earns £10,000pa.

Again a BUT... when I actually start Uni (if i get in) then I will be living in a house with my partner and daughter...

So on the application for bursary and loans etc... what do I say??? Cause you have to state the household income...would I put my partners or my mums??? Im so confused, I bet u all are too now!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light

I'm a bit confused! :help: I'm just looking into everything atm and I wondered if someone could explain...

I used the bursary calculater and it said I'd get about £10k, is that each year?

Do I pay my childcare costs out of this, or is there a seperate grant for this?

Does the £3.5k pa cost of the course get paid by the NHS, or do we pay this ourselves out of the bursary?

Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on this for me! Boo.x

just a couple of things i'm hoping someone can help me with.

I live in a housing association home with my hubby and four children. I do not work and my hubby works part time. Our annual income is 4576. I have received my bursary breakdown and my maintanence loan info but need to start changes of circumstances.

Firstly, We are in receipt of child tax benefit, do i phone them and tell them that I will be a fulltime sudent and do i declare the bursary and maintanence loan?

Secondly, we are on a very low income and receive housing and council tax benefit. am i right in thinking that there is one element of the bursary that they exclude when re assesing the claim? and will the council tax be payable less 25%?
So sorry to ramble!
Thanks 4 reading x

I am starting my midwifery course next month part time, 4 days a week. I am sure I saw on the student finance site that 28 hrs a week (which is what I will be doing) counts as full time, I phoned them up and they didn't seem to know. The guy I spoke to spoke to three supervisors before saying yes it would be classed as full time for their purposes.

I just wanted to clarify with anyone here who does 4 days a week - did you apply for student finance as a full or part time student?
I just don't want to hold it all up by filling in the wrong form, and from stories I've read here I'm not sure that the information they give out is entirely accurate!

Hello, I tried to bursary calculator but read loads of threads that ladies have got far less or more then the calcuator said they would. Just wanted to see if any student's in the same situ as me could give me more of a rough ideal of what sort of money I would get.

My husband is currently out of work, his claiming job seekers at the moment which would obviously stop when I start uni as hes going to be a stay at home dad to our 4 children.

I have 2 old children at school (my mum is doing the school runs for me) and 2 pre schooler's at home that my husband will be caring for.

Anyone know what sort of money I would receive? (if any) and is the childcare £185 max a week if I decide to put the two little ones in nursery a couple of times a week just so they not at home all the time?
I will be starting MA (adult nursing) in September, and I was told that I will not be entilted to student loan, as it is my second degree. Can somebody advise me if there is any point to apply for it anyway? I spoke to couple of people from the helpline and they said that no way I will get a penny but I can apply if I want to. Just to add I do not have a student loan I am paying off at the moment, as I did my degree abroad.
Any help would be appreciated!
