    Hi

Can any students tell me if they are doing a gynae ward placement within their degree and if so how many hours are the placements for.

Also is this an NMC requirement or are the universities requirements.

    Thanks

I'm sure I remember hearing that in the direct entry course you must do Xhours 'general' most unis use gynae for this, however some use A&E etc - I think I had 6 weeks gynae in second year (may have been 4 or 8 though)

We usually have two weeks of general, which could be gynae, but I think we get to pick.

We've also got 3 weeks of A&E. Gynae was the most boring 2 weeks of my life and the nurses weren't particularly welcoming but I am looking forward to A&E.

We do four weeks on gynae, then four weeks on general medical placement either clinics or wards.
I've just finished gynae and really enjoyed it - much more than AN Clinic!!

We do 4 weeks gynae and 2 weeks general theatres. I have that pleasure in April but friends who have done it already haven't given good reports :/
