    Allele

    Different forms of a gene for any specific locus. For example the gene locus for brown or blue eye colouring has two alleles: Brown (B) or Blue (b); while the gene locus for ABO blood grouping has three alleles: A, B and O. Every individual has two alleles for each gene locus.
