Sorry, struggled for a better title! I've been given first refusal of someone's books, most of them have no or very few reviews on amazon so I was wondering if anyone had read any of them. Quick replies would be ace so I can rule any out (preferably - I want too many of them already and am taking almost half of them by the looks of it!) and get back to here asap.

Legal Aspects of Midwifery 3rd Edition - Bridgit Dimond
A Student’s guide to Presentations - Barbara Chivers & Michael Schoolbred
The Social Context of Birth - Caroline Squire
Informed Choice in Maternity Care - Mavis Kirkham
The Midwife-Mother Relationship 2nd Edition - Mavis Kirkham
Study Skills for Nursing and Midwifery Students - Scullion & Guest
Health and Social Care Communication and Interpersonal Skills -Elaine Donnelly
Essential A&P in Maternity Care 2nd Edition - Linda Wylie
The Midwives Labour and Birth Handbook 2nd Edition - Vicky Chapman
Becoming a reflective practitioner 2nd Edition - Christopher Johns

The 3rd and 4th listed have no reviews at all so it's more for them. If anyone can recommend any of these or share their thoughts that would be ace. Then I just need a place so I can justify buying them all!

Ooh also a couple are 2004, my uni kind of goes by the 10 year rule I think so not sure if it's worth getting those (especially considering I'm not on the course! What do yous think? One's the reflection one mind you which I could use now x

The 4th I got out of the library and it was ok but probably wouldn't pay for it. The Wylie A&p book I find amazing when I need to get to grips with a new subject in bio and physiology in childbearing is too advanced lol

The Social Context of birth is good... used it for my first assignment...very interesting. Also used the midwives labour and birth handbook which was also very helpful. Can't advise on the other books as haven't come across them yet.. They all look very relevant and helpful though. It's nice to have a selection of books so all your references don't come out of Mayes/Myles! x

Thanks hun, I was swaying on the 4th as it's the 2004 one, though it looks really interesting. I should check the online library doodah too, I know my campus doesn't have any of them but others might. Wylie stays as I thought it would (plus bargain at 7quid!)x

The midwife mother relationship is a great book IMHO.

The johns reflective practice is good but heavy going (I prefer jasper for a book on reflective practice)

    Hth x

It does help thanks. I really liked the look of that one. I don't use John's (I'm a Gibbs girl) but googled the model and thought I could work with it. Heavy going in what way? I don't think I really need any help with reflection as it's coming naturally now but looking at the model I though it might help me expand, plus it's a reference but the book's getting outdated. Thanks x

Johns is the only reflective model I just cannot handle. The book is meant to be good though if maybe you wanted to do a reference in an essay on why reflection is a good thing etc, if you get my meaning?
