Yeah I'm kinda torn with that one because it sounds really useful but I don't think it's the sort you'd even skim read. Hmmmm, so bad at making decisions lol. Ta hun x

I have over 50 books now I have managed to get very cheap and have flick through them quite a bit some more than others but know they will be really useful once I'm on the course. Going to buy a few new editions like Myles A&P Skills in midwifery practise and the new Dictionary when it is release so excited about getting them now especially as I know I will be a student midwife ;) Xx

The midwife-motherrelationship is very good though a bit heavy-going- it baisically refines the emotional relationship between woman and midwife in to a scientific form, using models, analysis, psychology etc etc. It is an interesting read though and there are some very interesting chapters on power, autonomy and even one on the relationship between mother and childless midwife.

The social context of birth is very interesting too- confirmation of why we have some of the attitudes we have and great for researching the wider influences on midwifery and childbearing.

Study skills books are great if you find any of the academics particularly challenging- gives a nice breakdown of certain things including reflective practice.

I never used an A+P book particularly as I found my textbooks more than adequate for my physiology exams (and much easier to understand too) but I suppose it depends what your uni does and the info they recommend you look at.

    Hope that helps xxx

Brigid Dimond has written loads and loads of articles on legal aspects which may be enough for you - I know we had an assignment which included legal aspects of midwifery and I cited loads of them, didn't use the book.
The only other one I have used hugely is the Linda Wylie one, is a good one.
You will probably get most of these in the uni library though x

Thanks all, I've managed to cut them down to 5 so you've all been a great help. I'm a bit obsessed with books too which is why I needed help lol. I already have Ross and Wilson A&P and Physiology in Childbearing. I really have no need for the Study Skills book. Ooh I might look into those Scotschick for future reference. I checked uni library and it has all of them :p not my campus mind you but still haha. Thanks again peeps! :) x
