It still amazes me that some people find breastfeeding so offensive!! it is the most natural thing in the world, and what our breasts were made for. mothers should never be made to feel as if they are being innapropriate or "flaunting" themselves when breastfeeding in public. i always found that it was the older generation that i got negativity from if i breastfed in public, i guess its because that generation were brought up in a very prudish society.

Exactly mummytofive! I can't understand what people could find so offensive in something that is so natural, the best thing for the mother and her baby and also the reason why we were blessed with breasts in the first place! The sad fact is though that the media is so saturated with pictures of half naked girls with their breasts out that people have forgotten what their primary function is and end up only seeing them as sexual organs, which is what I think makes a lot of people feel uncomfortable. I applaud the stand these women have taken as it will hopefully inspire more women to not feel embarrassed about breast feeding in public and therefore people will get used to seeing it.
I'm still quite shocked that this happened in Brighton though! I've always been so proud to live here as it is supposedly such a liberal city that prides itself on welcoming anyone irrespective of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation and so for something like this to have become an issue makes me really sad. Maybe the people who complained weren't locals though, I really hope so!
