That sounds really good, will have a look into it myself. Just waiting for the 1st of next month to hopefully enrol for Liverpool Women's volunteer recruitment day and in the meantime I've been told I can sit in antenatal classes close to home.

This is definitely another avenue worth looking down, hope it's available here xx

It should be noted for anyone considering it, that Peer pport, by its very nature, means that you have to have breast fed yourself before you are able to do the training. But it is so rewarding and worthwhile, especially when you have a mum come in crying and feeling like she can't cope and she leaves smiling and saying that's the first feed she has managed without pain :)I love it so much x

There are lots of other ways to support BF mums though Foxylady, and attending antenatal clinics might be a good way, also enquire at the NCT about antenatal education teachers and maybe some bank work as an auxillary nurse, you might get maternity?? Good luck, be pro active and you will find some great work experience opportunities out there :)

Yes, how silly of me not to say, lol. Rockchick is right, you must have previously breastfed in order to become a breastfeeding peer supporter. I'm sure there are lots of other ways you could get involved though. X

It's worth asking, some places like you to have bf for 6 months, other not. Local children's centers often run courses

The general ante natal teaching for the NCT is a pretty long course, it's to level 5 (so second year of a degree) and takes any where from 2 1/2 years upward to complete. (I'm within about six months of finishing mine at the moment)

Offering to volunteer and bumps and babies groups is doable though if they have one near you?

I did look at the courses section of the NCT website for Liverpool for that but don't think they offer it here. Do you have to pay for it and is it full time?

I've also emailed the NCT in the past but noone ever came back to me, suppose its best to call them xx
