The bursary entitlement you are awarded is for you to live on...the nhs pays your tuition fees separately.

    Hi KittyKat30,

You get tuition fees paid for by the nhs and in addition to that receive the £1000 grant, means tested bursary and can apply for the non means tested loan.

Think you need a degree to get your head around this bursary info sometimes!

Hello, just after a rough gestimate if anyone is in the same position.
If I go to uni (me not in employment) out family income sous be 25k. We have 2 school age chidden but would need afterschool care a few times a week. We live far from London.
Does anyone know roughly what I would receive as inbursary and any childcare?
    Thanks

Hi i agree this is so confusing, so what happens with student loans. I know you get a bursary which is means tested, and from 2012 this one off payment f £1000.
I also know there is additional help if you have dependants and childcare, does anybody know about child tax credts.

Aside from this can you apply for student loans from the banks on the Highstreet, if so how does that work and what amounts are you liable for?

Child tax credits are unaffected. You apply for a non means tested student loan from student finance England
http://www.studentfinance.direct.gov.uk/portal/page?_pageid=153,4680119&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL you are entitled to £2324ish.
I believe you could get student loans from the bank if you have a good credit rating but it's not something I have done.
