Hello, I used a book called " CTG made easy" and thought it was really good :) Cant remember the author but sure it could be found quite easily!

Can't recommend a book as I never had one for CTGs but I just wanted to add that if your hospital does CTG meetings (where they discuss traces and how they think things will pan out (usually they are non-reassuring traces). Kind of like COTW here - Drs, midwives, students all look at the trace and discuss possible outcomes/reasons.) then I'd recommend you try to get along to some. They're great for seeing how the multidisciplinary team would react to a trace. I went to a few in my first year during my labour ward placement and felt it really help me see subtle changes (and sometimes not so subtle!) that would need action.

...bit of waffle there for you! Sorry! XD

No, not K2. (though we use that too) It's just meetings they have in our hospital where we go over CTGs. I guess it's very similar to K2 :p

Ooh I like the sound of that TBT... I guess you get to see how differently people would interpret and react to a dodgy CTG too then! I have two ctg books 'ctg made easy' and 'fetal monitoring in practice' but the terminology in both is slightly out of date. I have used K2 at the hospital and downloaded the fetal monitoring package from the perinatal institutes website.

The best thing I have found is to go through ctgs with mentors though!

Highly recommend CTG Made easy, makes it very easy to understand and written in plain english which is rare in medical books, also gives diagram of CTGs showing what to look out for and recognise things. Great book.

Once read would highly recommend attending CTG Course, these are usually offered periodically within NHS trusts and often seen advertised in maternity staff room notice boards.

    Good luck!!

I LOVE Fetal Monitoring in Practice. It is quite in depth, but explains everything very clearly.
