    Does your credit rating affect your ability to get a student loan?

    I have already done a degree and I defer my payments to the SLC every year because I've never earned enough. I also have quite a bit of debt owed to credit card companies and probably not a great credit score. Will this prevent me from getting another student loan if I get on the course?

    i dont believe it does, as im under a credit management agreement to pay off creditors and i expalined this last year 2 student finance last year and it wasnt a problem. and its gone through again this year so i dont think it is credit scored otherwise theyd see my credit file and laugh lol!! xx

    The student loan isn't effected by it however if you open a student bank account depending on your credit scoring will depend on how much of an overdraft you will get should you be applying for one Xx

    It can't be lol...I got the student loan no problem but I cannot get a student account anywhere. Only 1 bank would even consider giving me a current account!
