I was wondering about this - almost everyone has the unis they're applying to or at, which makes me think that's probably fine, but what's the general advice? Just don't say anything that can be recognised as you? Or should we not really be saying where we are applying/studying?

I wondered that... should I not say where I'm studying if I get a place, especially if it's a small cohort, it will be kind of easy to figure out who is who

Many choose to not be totally open about which uni they attend, what year they are in etc, some remain totally anonymous :) your level of personal discretion is up to you but do be mindful of the importance of all other areas of discretion :)

It's also interesting to note how many people realise once they start uni how un-anonymous they've been and the importance of being able to come here to discuss things, and frantically go through trying to edit posts and signatures and things.

I am totally recognisable here so I basically treat it as if I am not at all anonymous and say nothing that I wouldn't be able to justify if seen and questioned by my uni or the nmc etc.

Just another thing to consider, if you use the same user name on other sites, be aware that people can link that from a google search, so you may become identifiable from details you have given on another forum. Not sure if that makes sense, but I have actually recognised people from here on other sites such as money saving expert and netmums, either from photos, details or usernames being the same. So in other words, be careful on all sites you use, if you see what I mean.

My apologies but my user name is my name (excuse the pun :)) Can you please advise me as to how I can change is it to something more discrete. I am not very original when it comes to usernames I'm afraid and tend to stick to the same one.

    Many thanks

    :)

Have a think about it - some use a petname or a book/tv character as inspiration ...... any family nicknames? When you have a few names PM Growlie or Noo or anyone with a green name - they have the power :) and they can change it for you.
