I have been thinking of studying Midwifery for a long time, however due to financial difficulties and starting a family I put it on the back burner.

I have looked at the different options and feel that DCL is the best option for me, I have no GCSES or other qualifications, could anyone offer any further advice such as how do i start this? Where do i go? What are the costs? Is this recognised and accepted by unis to get a place?

    Re: DCL

hiya hun, welcome to the forum :)

firstly, make sure you get in touch with any uni's you would consider applying to for their advice because although the DLC course is QAA approved, some uni's do not accept it.

secondly, make sure you have a read of the reviews - as a past student i have already stated my opinions on that thread so i won't repeat them here, but i will say that this is by no means an easy route & needs a lot of consideration because you need to be fully comfortable with the fact you will receive minimal support.

if you do decide to go ahead, you can enquire via the DLC website - the costs are on there.

the OU might be worth considering as an alternative if your uni's are willing to accept it - the K101 intro to health & social care alongside the SK277 human biology is widely accepted in place of an access course. also, the OU have a big advantage in that they offer financial support depending on your circumstances. Xx

Thanks for your advice, does anyone know of any providers/websites that do English Lit, Maths & Science GCSE (not equivelents) as distant learning that offer monthly instalments?
