We would like to appeal to all of our members to lend their support to the 'Tell it right, start it right' campaign spearheaded by the Down's Syndrome Association.

Their campaign will ensure in the future that accurate and informative information about Down's Syndrome is given to parents upon pre or postnatal diagnosis.

Please could all members (and visitors to this website) spare a moment to sign the Downing Street petition located here and help effect future change in this respect:-

    Further Information from the DSA

We believe that parents have the right to accurate and up-to-date information and support after they have received a prenatal or postnatal diagnosis of Down's syndrome. We think there should be legislation that ensures this, just as this has recently become law in the US. If you agree, please support our campaign by signing up to the 'Tell It Right, Start It Right' e-petition by clicking on the link below:

More information about Down's Syndrome and the campaign can be located on the Down's Syndrome Association Website

Thank you to all participants on behalf of the DSA, SMNET and so many others we cannot list here.

That's actually what I thought. It's available [perhaps] but is it given? Is this a case of 'It varies from trust to trust'

I'm not sure if it is, or whether it's good enough. Apparently, the abortion rate for Down's syndrome pregnancies has gone up by over 70% in the last 20 years- a lot of people just think it's the worst thing that could ever happen and don't consider other options.

I think I have a link here somewhere...

wow saphire, that article makes for some scary reading.. 92% of pregnancies diagnosed with a baby with Downs syndrome are terminated. That is dreadfully sad :(
