    Thanks for posting.
I had this procedure done during my second pregnancy, it was a little uncomfortable but wasn't painful and was well worth it. x

Ah, thats how its done...I was wondering how much pressure was required - it was easy to see how he was manoeuvring the baby. Thanks for the post. xxx

ive always imagined this to be a very uncomfortable (even painful) procedure, but the mother looked very at ease. is ECV carried out by the midwife or an obstetrition?

Yes, I do agree that the woman looks very relaxed! This can be quite uncomfortable. The procedure is carried out by an Obstetrician. It's the sort of thing that some Obstetricians will specialise in and others stay well clear of. It takes quite a lot of pressure, which I think is apparent in this video.

The woman may have been given a muscle relaxant, such as salbutamol, which makes the procedure more manageable.

I've read it's quite common for the baby to 'bounce' back to the breech position. How far in the pregnancy is this carried out? As i understand the baby can turn into position up until the birth?

Imo the baby doing a complete turn is very uncomfortable, so for this to be done manually must be very very uncomfortable.

Good video though :) like the accompanying music! lol

I think I was about 38 weeks when I had an ECV.
I've also heard that it's common for the baby to turn back breech but luckily for me, the ECV worked and my baby didn't turn back breech. x

If a baby is in the breech position women tend to get referred to the Obstetrician around 36 wks. Options are discussed and risk factors considered (e.g. a woman whose had a previous C/S would be unsuitable for ECV). Then booked in for ECV at around 38 wks, if it is considered safe and if that's what the woman wants.

And yes, they can turn back. It can be repeated if needed.
