Hi everyone, this is my first post! im new to this! A midwife at KMH told me about the site a while back and i wondered if anyone could help me.

Me and my partner currently work, he works full time on about £15k, i have 2 jobs one main part time job and a job i do on a bank basis. We have a 2 year old son.

i have applied to do the Access to Nursing and Healthcare course in september at my local college as i want to go into midwifery (obviously!)

To do this course i'll need to give up my main job as it's in a day centre and the course is 2 and a half days a week, also my employer wouldnt be flexible with me around the course. I could keep my bank job but the hours arent guaranteed.

my partners earnings arent enough alone to cover our household bills never mind childcare, yet the college could only offer me childcare help if our gross household income is below £15k which we go over (just) before tax.

please help anybody who can suggest anything or in similar situations or has been in my position before. This is really stressing me out especially as if i was a single non-working parent in a council house they'd fund it all! but because i work im hitting brick walls all round! i know i want to be a midwife and im so ambitious i'll do anything to get there! please please help me!!

hi lauren, im sort of in the same situation as you! i've been advised to speak to a careers advisor at the college and tell them about your situation, they should be able to help you out or pay the fees for you, its worth a try! this is only what i have been advised from someone who has been in a similar situation and they got the help they needed, it sounds like you would be eligible because of your household income, good luck! xx
