Midwifery students qualify for an NHS bursary which, is income-based in England, but the rules are different for Scotland and Wales. You can get dependent's allowance, depending what your household income is and you may qualify for parent learning allowance (also comes as part of the bursary). You can also claim up to 85% of childcare costs back through the bursary, again dependant on your income. You can have a look at the NHS student bursary calculator online to try and work out how much you may be entitled to, or telephone the bursary people for more information. You can apply for a reduced student loan (this year it was about £2300 per year), which you would have to pay back once earning over a certain amount.

    Hope that helps!
