    HI everyone,

Not really posted before as a bit shy lol:phew: But needed to share this and knew you guys would understand the excitement of it all.

So first shift on D/S, Lady came in around 9am and apeared in alot of discomfort- first baby and was supported by m- in law and partner- small problem as only partner spoke a little english. so trying to talk to her through partner however we did learn some of the language by the end of the shift :tt2:

Started to feel very daunting at this stage....

anyway on VE she was 4cm so encourage to moblise/take a bath to help relax her as was saying how fed up she was..

Around 1ish she was making involuntry pushes so mentor VE as nothing appeared to be happening after an hour. VE showed she was 8cm so encouraged to relax and take another bath.

5.30ish soon raced round and it was clear that she was definatly wanting to push, however baby seem to have late decels so put of ctg to monitor.

mum decided to try the birth stool with m-in law supporting her on a chair behind... i soon started to see the head so quickly shouted my mentor who told me to hurry and put gloves on

I went to move so my mentor could get in when she told me if your catching this baby you need to be there :kicking:

6.10 little girl was born with cord tightly round neck... needed slight encouragement to breath (apgar of 6) but soon handed to mum for skin to skin contact.

Took just under an hour for a physioloical 3rd stage but was lovely to see

Mum only 100ml blood loss and no stitches required

Baby was latched on to mum having a lovely feed as my shift finished.

Cant wait for shift number 2 as i loved every min of it

    xx

This is going to be the stupidest question ever and people will be thinking whyyy on earth has she got an offer lol, buttt... What does the catch have to involve in order for it to count towards your 40..? What do you, as the student do?
It doesn't sound too dosy now :)
    Thanks,

Sounds AMAZING!!! Oh my Goodness you must be buzzing and giddy, I am a little bit from hearing your story! And you know what Haz59, I owe you a thank you too...have started to feel a bit bogged down with interview stress...not to mention slightly impatient at waiting for responses and feel as if I am working so hard ra rara ra....you have just put everything back into perspective for me as to WHY I am going through this! I lost sight of my vision for a bit there! Congratulations, I am so happy for you! Keep your catches coming! Lovely to hear your story. x

Well done! You must be over the moon, that sounds fantastic. I'm assuming you hadn't discussed with your mentor beforehand that you would do the catch and were 'flung in' so to speak? I think I'd prefer this (less time to get all panicky!)
