    Hi guys,

Need a bit of advice! I applied to 5 uni's to do midwifery: bournemouth, plymouth, worcester, anglia ruskin and brighton. I meet the entry requirements for all, all though I dont have a social science apart from health and social care a level. I have done 3 lots of relevent work experience and I thought my personal statement was strong. Ive been notified today that ive been unsuccessful at anglia ruskin, bournemouth and worcester and all because I didnt show enough knowledge into midwifery?! Im absolutly gutted, I really want to get on with pursuing my career either straight into midwifery or through the adult nursing route. Anyone going through the same thing? Or got any advice on my next step? Thanks youuu xx

    Hi hun

Sorry to hear that but have you had proper feedback? I applied to one uni last time, I got an interview but was still unsuccessful. I felt upset and deflated but dont forget about Ucas clearing later on next year. Stay positive, and take the feedback they offer and try again. Your still waiting for Brighton so stay positive.

I applied to 5 uni's this time and so far 3/5 unis I have been offered an interview, One I declined due to distance. Just remember so many applying and not everyone gets in first time, I didnt but I am hopeful this time. Use the experience in a positive way hun xxxxx

    Hi
I just want to come on and share my experience with you, I am currently halfway through my nursing degree at Stirling Uni. I applied in 2009 and got an interview with Dundee and Stirling, I was unsuccessful at Dundee and on the reserve list at Stirling.
A few weeks before the term started at Uni I swapped to Adult Nursing as I knew that I didn't have a chance of getting a place on the Midwifery course from the reserve list, only one person that year
    did.
I was gutted and when all the SM's sat together I was soooo envious but I threw myself into nursing and I am so glad I did. I love nursing now and can't imagine doing midwifery. I know that I want to work in acute nursing and my next placement is Acute Assessment Unit which I cannot wait for.
My point is that it is horrible to get knocked back, I was gutted, cried for days but maybe the interviewers saw something in me and knew that I was actually meant to be a nurse and a damn good one at that (well I am lol!!). So all is not lost, if you are unsuccessful Adult Nursing may be the place for you, I can't imagine helping to bring a baby into the world it must be an amazing feeling but equally amazing is helping a patient come to terms with their terminal diagnosis, holding their hand and when they say "I'm not scared anymore" you know you've done a brilliant job. When that patient did die I was devastated, thankfully I wasn't on when she passed away but I was able to do last offices on her after she had died and that is amazing.
So anyway, I know you all have your hearts set on midwifery as I did, it is soooo competitive and hard to get into, the lucky ones will get the places but if you're not one of those lucky few there are other options.
Luvs, hugs and fingers crossed you you guys,
    Lynnie x.

Aw wow, its so good that something new and positive came out of it for you. Luckily I have been offered interviews at plymouth and Brighton now so Im preparing myself for those, so excited. But Im not going to get my hopes up and I have back up options. I beleive everything happens for a reason :) And in your case it really did!! Thankyou for the advice xx

I am a definite believer in everything happening for a reason, i rec'd a invite for interview at LJMU yesterday and an unsuccessful today from Greenwich but am hopeful for my other three choices, I am throwing my self into preparing for my interview and hopefully have some others too....I never realised how stressful this would become especially when i know that midwifery is all I want to do and am extremely passionate about it, I just hope this comes across x
