    Hello,

I'm new to the site and just at the very early stages of thinking about applying for 2013/14.

I've too young girls - ages 3 and 8 months. So when I potentially start my youngest will be nearly 2 and a half which should make a considerable difference to childcare costs.

I already hold an undergraduate degree in Sport and PE and only didn't qualify as a PE teacher because I fell pregnant with my first in my year out before starting teacher training. Now I'm very glad I didn't - doesn't really appeal to me at all any more. I had no idea what I wanted to do when I was 17/18. Hats off to anyone here who is that age and already passionate about knowing they want to be a midwife.

For me, it's only been going through two pregnancies, births and newborns that has given me any idea that I'd like to be a midwife. I must admit, while I was only early pregnant with number one and meeting the community midwife, I thought what a lovely job it must be. But I thought - I bet every pregnant woman thinks that as a phase. That was 4 and a half years ago and it hasn't left me at all. I can't think of a more rewarding job, being a part of what is such an amazing experience for any mother and/or family.

My first labour wasn't brilliant(induced) but my second was just the most amazing thing I have ever done and I would just love to help other woman experience birth that way - a positive and truly amazing thing, not something to be scared of and just to be 'got through'.

Already, this site seems absolutely the place to be through all stages of applying and being a student.

I'm just about to try and get some experience in the local hospital if I can but I've heard that that can be quite difficult. I'm still really good friends with my first community midwife and hoping she will be the key!

I looking forward to getting to know you all,

    Dabbers xx
