    gosh it all sounds so barbaric!!! im so gald we have moved on! It seems so uneducated looking back, but who knows, in 100 years people may say the same about medicine nowadays!

    funnily enough i asked the same question, but in those days you 'laid back and thought of england' whilst your husband did his thing! nothing to do with real romance sadly in many cases :'( and yes contraception was not available in any reliable form. I would think that at her section the butcher must have done more in there, as she never fell pregnant again.
