    Hi,

From the open day it sounds like they have different groups for interview depending on when you submit your UCAS application. I think the first application day is in December.

I have a question. Does anyone know what is happening with tuition fees? I have been reading different nhs websites and unis prospectuses and am really confused over what is happening with all the cuts to the nhs. I know there is a new scheme for student loans and grants but I'm not sure if the NHS still funds the course.

Good luck to everyone with applications! x

    Good luck ladies!

To those that asked, they interview in batches and give out places as they go along. I got my app in early December and was interviewed end of April, so an early submission would be advantageous if you want to be interviewed before Christmas.

Tuition fees are still covered by Department of Health, but there has been a change to the bursary system this year...

    Financial support

All students on university courses in nursing (leading to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council) will be eligible for some financial help from the NHS while studying.

Eligible students who are accepted onto approved courses will usually have their tuition fees paid in full and may receive financial support in the form of a bursary.

All eligible students will receive a £1,000 grant each year. They will also be eligible to apply for an additional means-tested bursary of up to £4,395 per year. Students in London will qualify for more (up to £5,460)

NHS Student Bursaries provides financial support to eligible students taking approved (NHS funded) courses in nursing.

(Note that the above arrangements relate to students commencing courses from September 2012. Eligible students starting approved NHS-funded courses in 2011 will usually have their tuition fees paid in full and are eligible for a bursary. This is means tested for students on approved degree programmes and non-means tested for those on approved diploma of higher education programmes).

Thanks so much. That's really helpful. I've just got an email from Kings with a link to the application portal. I really hope they let me know if they want to offer me an interview or not soon. I keep on checking track!!! x

Thank you MES, if it helps anyone feel better the first time around I don't think I sent my application off until after Christmas (thanks to college at least) and still got 5/5 interviews. On the other hand either I truly sucked in interview (which is quite likely I was a little 17 year old mouse!) or I got no places because they were already taken...
