hi everyone, im applying for sept 2012 and il be going as an 18 year old fresh from 6th form :) im really worried about money, because i wont get a huge maintenance loan because my parents earn too much but theyve said they cant afford to pay for my accommodation because they have other children to bring up and while theyre happy to help me out they can only afford to maybe buy me the odd thing i need here and there, like bring some food when they visit and things. so what do i do if my loan doesnt even cover accommodation? we all know how hard it is to get a job thats flexible enough for a midwifery degree, so i doubt very much il be able to work. so how do i get the extra money when im not eligible for grants and things? thanks guys! xx

There is always banking hun, you can do as many or as little hours during the week, uni suggests no more than 15hours anyway. I bank at my hospital and they always have shifts that need covering xx

You need to select other not the midwifery course option as that gives you a result for the non means tested diploma bursary.

That calculators outdated anyway as the bursary has changed this year...but it might give you a rough idea to what you'll get.

i hate this money system! literally my parents earn just a little bit too much for me to get good amounts of money, like i was just out of the bracket for ema at school! it means they cant afford to help me but i dont get any help from the government! and im 18 so i havent got lots of savings to fall back on or a partner in work :( and im going to have to get a car too because the placements at the only uni i havent been rejected from are so far away from the uni! xx
