My first catch!!

I delivered my first baby on tuesday nite and i am buzzin. I have only been on labour ward for just over a week on my first placement. I was on a long shift and had an hour left when my supervisor asked me if i wanted a hands on. Obviously i said yes and went into the room. The lady was 7cms and waters still intact. She was a para 8 no joke. Even though she had done it several times she was so scared of giving birth. Id been in the room for about 5 mins when she SROM'd. She quickly got onto the bed and i had just enough time to get my gloves on and catch this speeding bullet of a baby. Delivered the placenta and examined it. It was a great first catch. Hopefully the first of many great catches.:> woohoo!

congrats!! amazing!! Ive witnessed a home birth and will be on delivery suite for an "observation" week next month but some of my peers have got their first catches during their week, so maybe i will get lucky!! Im out on delivery suite again for 6 weeks over the summer - cant wait!!

must be such an amazing feeling and makes all the rollercoaster of doing this course feel worth it!! xx

You brought a tear to my eye. I dont know you and I probably never will but as I read your post I felt an enormous sense of pride!
