    Hi!
It's my first post here, I've always had midwifery as a possible career when I was 8 maybe it was what I wanted to do, I then changed my mind and ended back here!

I'm predicted all A's at GCSE, but I don't know what to choose for A-Level!
Did you take Biology, it's not my favourite subject! I would take it if I had to...
I'd like to take History, Spanish, Maths and something else. Do you think these would be suitable?

I'd like to think I'd make a good midwife I'm caring and patient, I don't think I'd mind the shifts and being able to help someone so much would make me so happy!

    Thanks :) x

    Hi there.

The best thing is to contact the uni's you are interested in applying to and find out if they have any preferences. Some will require biology, others will accept another science, including psychology instead, and some will accept any subjects(not usually general studies though).

I did my A levels a few years ago in History, Politics and Philosophy, and Law and Economics AS levels, so very different, and a couple of the places applied to didn't require anything more, but I am doing bio on the side now as it does increase the places you can apply to. More of an issue if you want to stay local as there aren't 5 in Yorkshire, for example, who are happy without a science qual, but there are enough uni's that don't require it to apply countrywide :)

Hey there, welcome to the site.
As for quals, only you can decide, but IMO: Take Biology!! Take it! That orhuman biology- seem to be a standard requirement.Maths would also be great, and you'll need A_Level English, too.

Hi and welcome to the forum

If your set on A-levels and not a national diploma (always worth a thought) biology tends to be the one you most hear about, health and social care often follows, but as mentioned above, ring potential universities - certainly your best bet, good on you for researching ahead of time :)

    Thanks for those replies!

Only one thing really worries me about them...
Do I have to take English, and if so does it matter which one?

Which unis would you recommend me researching?

    Thanks again! X

Agh well, I'll avoid Scotland. I'm thinking Manchester, Southampton, York, Leeds and an insurance. What do you think? I want to make sure if I really want to pursue this I want to pursue it fully!!!
