hiya, if your hubby wasnt paying any tax or national insurance contributions, the job was probably a "fiddle" job...which could result in the employer being fined. while i dont want to worry you, i would be cautious about proving any income, and im sure the employer does understand what is being asked, but doesnt want to incriminate himself. i expect that if the employer is pushed about this, he will say that your husband was self employed and kept delivery money, thus passing the buck, and leaving your hubby answerable to the tax man! not good as all blame would then lie with your hubby.
are you claiming working or child tax credits, and how much of the income was declared, just yours, or yours and hubby's? any other benefits, rent, council tax etc...and how long was hubby employed? i would perhaps suggest that if it has been for a short time only he could say that he was unable to obtain payslips despite asking, and therefore left? (making sure the blame stays with the boss) or go with the self employed theme and make a tax return, possibly incurring a late fee, or retract the claim that your husband made any earnings, not sure how you would do that one tho...i am no expert, i would deffo suggest speaking to the citazens advice bureau or similar organisation.
sorry if this all sounds a bit daunting, just wanting to make sure that by persuing this you arent making yourselves liable to prosecution. on the brighter side tho, once you sort out the hubbys income, you will probably get money you havent taken into consideration, such as child benefit, free school meals, child tax credits and so on. you say that one of your children is disabled (mine too), you may be able to apply for carers allowance which is over £50 a week and not included in calculations for things like benefits and burseries, and also disability living allowance.
for anyone with children, there is a minimum amount a parent(including students) can receive, so im sure that you have overlooked some of your entitlements. hope this message makes sense, and i hope its helped x

It's because access isn't classes as full time by dwp as you are not actually at college for more than about 22h (can't remember exact cut off).

Well after much stress, I finally have it sorted *fingers crossed*. I received an email today so logged on to the system and saw I have an award notice, I have my dependant allowance but they have rejected my recent change of circumstance form in which I was adding my childcare claim. I have no option but to put my school age children in a Breakfast club so that both they and I can get to school on time lol. Not sure why they refused that but I am just happy they have sorted out the main part of the bursary now.

Fingers crossed they don't forget to pay me! Thank you all for the help x
