    Hello Gorgeous People.

So the time of year has come where I go all crazy and organise my house! I have a lovely new filing unit and want to organise my millions of paper journal article print out in a useful way so that they can be easily found another time.

i thought about author - but which author should I put and then it leaves me without being able to search or look up based on the title or subject. What use is an author filing system if you don't know the author that wrote something?

Does anyone else have a system in place that works?

I thought also about keeping a computer system with the keywords of the articles and using that to search. but maybe that's going a little OTT...

Oh my. My filing system is- Pile 1, Pile 2, Pile 3......:D
Okay, not quite, but I need to get my house in order!
However, would it not be more useful to file according to subject? That way you can compare different articles if you need to and so on.....

    Curly, you're a nutter.

I'd say, sort them into ring binders with dividers and divide into subject area, then alphabeticalise them.
    e.g.

Hannah Trial would be filed under B for Breech and etc...

Then they'll be easy to find because you'll know the subject you want, even if you don't know the full title or authors' names.

but what if an article is about for example: choice and continuity or the power analysis of language then they have two very important subject matters!

I think I might file them under first author and then cross reference them on a computer document with the key words for the article and where i can find them in the filing system. But that also sounds way too complicated.

    Balls.

I think you're overthinking this, honey...

Maybe you could organise by subject area, then type up a contents list to stick in the front of the folder with the title/author and section number on?
    Keep it simple.

    OR...

You could file them under B for BIN. Or S for Shredder... Far more satisfying.. ;)
