Don't worry hun and don't be in a rush to get things signed off. I know people seem to get competitive over getting things signed off but it's not a race and we have 3 years to develop our skills and get it done. Spend a few shifts observing and learning / practicing skills. I was an MCA previously so brought some experience with me but didn't start signing off until I was performing the entire check including all documentation and conducting the whole visit / appt / booking.. Means I may have less checks signed off than others but I feel I have learnt more this way by setting the bar high and it has helped me develop my skills especially with documentation and it has really helped me to build some confidence. Why sign things off when we are still learning and developing the skills - better to take it slowly and be a safe practitioner. Try not to listen to others talking about how much they have signed off - makes it easier lol.

Like the others have said, don't worry! I'm almost 3 weeks into my first community placement and haven't got anything signed off yet (although i was off for a week). others in my cohort have done loads more and got things signed off, but I don't feel I've done any of them properly yet and am much happier taking my time to develop the skills and know that when they get signed off it's because I really am doing them right. I agree it's sometimes best not to talk to others about what they have done if it will lead to you feeling a bit rubbish, people have a tendency to boast and then if you haven't done as much it can naturally be a bit of a downer for you.

Relax, and enjoy your placement. The skills / signing off etc will come

We weren't allowed to have them signed off in the first semester because we weren't competent to any level, and didn't have the underpinning knowledge yet.
However I still ended first year with 20 postnatal checks signed off out of a max of 25.
Don't worry about it, just take some time to get into the swing of things and get your head around the physiology of it all first.

Do you only have to get 25 postnatal checks? We have to get 100 mums and 100 babies!!

A lot of unis break it down into years - so you have to do 100 overall , we were told to aim for about 30 a year signed off
