I recently received an assignment where I had to cover a medical disease or disorder and I decided to go with Preeclampsia as I felt it was an important ailment that really affects caring for a pregnant woman (NOTE: I am not yet in the midwifery program, but I try to make the assignments I do in the program I am in now relevant to this career choice)

Does anyone have any sources or information they'd be willing to lend? Or maybe a better idea for the assignment? (It's not due until March. I'm just a keener! ;))

    Thanks xo_Omiley-chores033:

I think preeclampsia is a great topic, there's quite a bit of infor out there and it'll come in handy when you need to cover it in uni! I always made my assignments relevant to midwifery too, it's a good way to link your current education to midwifery when you're asked about current studies in an interview!

I found the 'Action on preeclampsia' website useful - www.apec.org.uk

    BMJ Guidelines - http://www.bmj.com/content/330/7491/576.full

    NHS Choices - http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Pre-eclampsia/Pages/Treatment.aspx

and don't forget to have a look in the library, there'll be lots of books that has sections on preeclampsia!

Hope that helps, although I've jst noticed you're in Canada so not sure how relevant they will be!

    xx

    Thanks so much KarrierBag!

From what I've researched, diagnosis and treatment are similar here as they are elsewhere in the world. I am making the trip to the library today which I hope will have something (The college I go to does not offer Midwifery, but we do have nursing students so there is a small selection of material pertaining to childbirth and pregnancy)

Thanks again for the awesome resources! :)
