Hi all, can anyone help me please, I'm looking into how to prepare for a community placement especially in the midlands area, I have some ideas but not sure if I'm on the right lines, geographical area, how long it will take to get there, relevant parking, type of accommodation ie flats terraces for ease of acces, ethnic groups, religions you might encounter, is there anything specific that I am missing
    Thanks

I'm not sure what you actually mean, if I was asking a student to prepare for a community placement I'd be meaning look at the skills needed on community, what shifts the community midwives do, where to meet them etc

Look at the locality, there are lots of stats on the office of national statistics.
Look at the skills you will need and brush up on local policy on the work of community midwives.
Look at the practicalities- shifts, transport, location of gps and children's centres, how will you get around when on call at night?

Maybe look at the service user profile-for example is it a deprived area? You need to tailor your care for the diverse needs of women.
