I have to write a 2000 word reflection on consent, I am using Driscoll's model, I have written the what and now what but am really stuck on how to start the analysis, any help would be really appreciated as this is a marked reflection.

    Thanks

What's it on, and I can give you some pointers - what you want in the analysis is your references as to what could have been done, what went wrong etc

So I'd put in something about why consent is needed, how language barriers affect maternal and child mortality, how these language barriers can be overcome ie language line, translator, family member, then what was good/bad about the one used.

What did you think of the situation - ie did the lack of communication result in something being done without valid consent or did this mean an alternative was chosen - ie syntometrine and third stage - did they resort to physiological due to lack of consent or give it anyway?

Then at the end write what you would do in the future

Thanks iolaus that makes sense to me now, I was just confused on where to start to be honest, I pm'd you with the details of the experience, as the procedure wasn't actually performed I didn't know whether this would cause problems or not, I do think that language line should have been used in this occasion as the woman understood very little english.

    Thanks again
