You would have thought so wouldn't you and i hope that is the case. Lets not forget, there are two sides to the story and newspapers like to sensationalise. We don't know that that wasn't on the agenda as we haven't heard both sides.

We don't know that this wasn't the case in this instance. All we know is that they didn't tell her it wasn't her fault...well how could they when they didn't know that at that point? I assume that is why they were phoning, to reassure her...and when they couldn't get hold of her (when NOBODY else noticed her missing i hasten to add), they indeed phoned the police.

I just pointed out that she wasn't suspended, as some had said she was (or they expected she would have been during the investigation which isn't the case)

Very sad... Whatever anyone thinks about the Trust and how they manged it, whether they acted incorrectly or not etc, there was not the support network out there to support this girl which is heartbreaking. The thought of something like this happening actually makes me feel sick.

thats the upsetting part, no one was there for that girl whether she was in the wrong or not surely she should have been given some support. not sure where her family were or friends but its just terrible to think she was alone and scared enough to take her own life

    It's such a sad story. :(

You never know that extra support may have made that difference.

Sad and scary. Heart goes out to all involved. I've thought long and hard about the worse happening and would hope the support would be available for me and for the patients family.

I read this with much sadness and was enraged at the ending comment, ''We could not say to her on the phone, Don't worry - you're not going to be suspended, because that's not how things are done in the NHS. We have to relay that information face to face." - some unnamed hospital source.

I can see why they would not say on the phone if she WAS GOING TO BE suspended but I see no reasons whatsoever to with-hold information and keep her in the dark. I think it goes without saying that Theresa would have been distraught and massively concerned so why this was not conveyed is beyond me because it would have meant perhaps a different frame of mind for Miss Naish. I would love for this 'hospital source' to come forward and say in exactly which legislation or NHS / Trust employers handbook it states this information could not be conveyed. It's certainly not stipulated in any employment law.

It's sick... It truly is sick! I hope to God that I never have to go through something like this because I honestly don't think I'd be strong enough either!
